Cranford Fire Department Honors Lives Lost on 9/11
Staff Report / cranfordlocal.org
The Cranford Fire Department held a ceremony today to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The department reflected on the tragic events of that day, noting that it started with clear skies and a bright sun, as thousands of people left their homes for work, unaware that they would not return.
First responders—including firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel—displayed incredible bravery as they rushed into the World Trade Center, understanding the risks involved. Their actions were driven not by orders, but by a sense of duty and a commitment to help others.
In the aftermath of the attacks, healthcare workers, search-and-rescue teams, and law enforcement from various states responded without hesitation. Community members also volunteered, gave blood, and contributed in any way they could. These acts of selflessness were highlighted as defining qualities during such a tragic time.
The ceremony emphasized the importance of remembering those who lost their lives, including local residents, and supporting the families who continue to live with that loss. Attendees were encouraged to keep the spirit of those lost alive through their daily actions.
